Mitsubishi Electric Group in the Philippines Embarks on a Green Journey: Planting Seeds of Sustainability in Rizal, Laguna

On February 13, 2024, in Rizal, Laguna, Mitsubishi Electric Group in the Philippines demonstrated its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship through a corporate social responsibility project dedicated to sustainability and combating climate change.


The tree planting activity, a symbol of the company's dedication, was actively supported and participated in by the MELCO Sustainability Planning Division (SPD), represented by Eiji Tateshita, Deputy General Manager, and Takahiro Abe, Manager. The event took place in the mountainous area of Tanaw De Rizal in Rizal, Laguna.


A total of 800 seedlings were planted by Mitsubishi Electric Group in the Philippines, with the participation of 75 individuals from International Elevator & Equipment, Inc. (IEE), led by Katsunori Ushiku, President & Chairman, 30 members from Laguna Autoparts Manufacturing Corporation (LAMCOR) with Yasuhiro Miyakusa, President, and another 75 from MELCO Factory Automation Philippines Inc. (MELAP) with Albert Wang, President. The event was co-organized by the local government of Laguna, led by Vice Mayor Antonino Aurelio and Don Concordia, showcasing a unified commitment to environmental conservation.


Katsunori Ushiku, President & Chairman, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, "Let's come together in our shared dedication to planting trees, fostering sustainability, and embracing 'Changes for the Better' for a better tomorrow." He highlighted the power of collective action in cultivating a legacy of abundance, resilience, and harmony with nature.


Tayak Hills was selected as the planting site due to its ecological significance to the province, serving as a crucial catchment area for rainwater. Beyond its role in carbon dioxide absorption and soil erosion mitigation, the trees play a vital role in preserving the natural flow of groundwater, essential for sustaining the streams and lakes around San Pablo, Laguna, which are integral to the livelihoods of local communities.


This tree planting initiative underscores Mitsubishi Electric's ongoing commitment to environmental initiatives, contributing to the realization of a sustainable society marked by prosperity. With a focus on carbon neutrality, Mitsubishi Electric is poised to accelerate its efforts in both responsibility and contribution, demonstrating its leadership in environmental sustainability.
