IEE Building Solutions toward a
Stronger National Healthcare Infrastructure

Healthcare facilities, such as hospitals, laboratories, mental health institutions, and pharmaceutical manufacturing units, have always played a crucial role in safeguarding public health. These facilities serve as the foundation of the healthcare system, promoting preventive measures, diagnosing illnesses, and delivering necessary treatments.

In response to evolving community needs and the constant advancements in medical knowledge, healthcare facilities have undergone significant transformations over the years. The evolution of these establishments’ universal design mirrors society's progress and the advancement of medical science, underscoring their indispensable role in enhancing public health and well-being.

Modernizing healthcare facilities is not solely a matter of architectural upgrades; it is crucial in addressing the present-day needs of patients and medical professionals. This journey towards improvement is essential to enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and patient well-being.

To achieve this, Mitsubishi Electric, through International Elevator & Equipment, Inc. (IEE), is at the forefront, leading the way in modernizing healthcare infrastructure and setting new standards for building innovations.

Reliable and Efficient Building Systems in Healthcare Facilities

In healthcare facilities management, smooth-running facilities are vital. As such, these facilities focus on the following building systems to provide excellent patient care and efficient operations:

  • Uninterrupted power supply: Healthcare facilities need a continuous energy source to operate critical medical equipment, lighting, and climate control systems. Efficient building systems incorporate backup power solutions such as power-generating systems or uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems to prevent disruptions during power outages.
  • Smooth patient and staff transportation and equipment movement: Being able to transport patients, staff, and medical equipment is essential. Vertical transportation systems play a role in enhancing the overall patient experience by reducing physical strain and allowing healthcare professionals to respond promptly to emergencies.
  • Climate control: Proper heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are vital for maintaining optimal temperature and humidity levels within healthcare facilities for the patients’ and staff’s comfort. Air conditioning systems with air purification attachments also prevent the growth of harmful microorganisms.
  • Safety and security: Reliable building systems prioritize the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors. This includes emergency exits and advanced security systems to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Adaptability and scalability: Designing reliable building systems that can adapt and scale allows healthcare facilities to accommodate technological advancements and changes in healthcare practices without requiring significant infrastructure overhauls.
  • Integrated building management: Building management systems in healthcare facilities encompass crucial elements such as monitoring of clean water supply, integrated communication systems, patient monitoring technologies, and regular maintenance protocols for the facility’s efficient and safe operations.

From all these, we will continue to enhance the efficiency of medical establishments by making vertical solutions technologies, air conditioning systems, building management, and power generators accessible to local companies through IEE. These solutions enable institutions to operate without worrying about downtimes and to focus on saving lives.

Mitsubishi Electric's Contributions to Healthcare Projects

Mitsubishi Electric has become synonymous with reliability and practicality in the Philippines. This includes the array of product lines offered by IEE to Philippine corporations.

For instance, in recent years, over 50% of the country's leading hospitals have utilized our elevators for efficient patient transportation and medical equipment movement in healthcare settings. We developed specialized elevators like the Nexiez MR B750 & B1000 to cater to the unique demands of hospitals.

The Nexiez MR B750 is primarily used to transport hospital staff, patients, and visitors. This has a 6-24 people or 450-1600 kg rated capacity and efficiently allocates passengers to avoid overloading. On the other hand, the Nexiez MR B1000 can efficiently transport people and hospital beds. The hospital bed elevator can easily accommodate two hospital beds compared to B750’s one hospital bed. Overall, both elevators were designed to be spacious, efficient, and reliable for seamless transportation that saves valuable minutes – minutes that can potentially save lives.

Beyond elevators, our HVAC systems also ensure climate control applications in diverse healthcare institutions like pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, laboratories and research facilities, and mental health institutions. The company’s air conditioning systems are engineered to ensure stringent environmental control, air quality management, and temperature and humidity stability. Maintaining optimal temperatures is also essential for patient and medical staff comfort. Advanced air filtering components are also available for installation to enhance safety from viruses and diseases.

In addition, IEE understands the importance of uninterrupted power supply in healthcare settings. Power-generating systems are deployed to ensure that power remains continuous, guaranteeing that critical medical operations are never compromised.

Medical establishments must also adapt to regulatory changes. Nowadays, healthcare facilities are being called upon to incorporate sustainable solutions to reduce their environmental impact. Fortunately, we focus on providing energy-efficient technologies that utilize sustainable materials to help co-create a future where healthcare is efficient and environmentally responsible.

Mitsubishi Electric's Strategic Plans for Healthcare

Universal design lies at the core of Mitsubishi Electric's approach. Every healthcare facility should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their physical abilities. By ensuring that vertical lifts are not just functional but also universally accessible, Mitsubishi Electric is enabling inclusivity within healthcare spaces.

Moreover, we also excel in providing establishments with HVAC systems that go beyond conventional standards. Nowadays when respiratory health is paramount, our focus on air quality is a testament to our dedication to patient welfare.

Overall, Mitsubishi Electric recognizes the environment’s influence on a patient’s recovery process. Medical establishments aspire to create environments that are designed to promote fast recuperation. These are not just aesthetically pleasing but are strategically crafted spaces that aid in improving a patient’s well-being. Through our technologies, a holistic healing experience where comfort and efficiency are within reach.
