The International Elevator & Equipment, Inc. (IEE) is leading progress in the building solutions industry by bringing technological breakthroughs to establishments in the Philippines. As a building solutions concierge focused on introducing innovations in solutions and services, we continue to push boundaries to help our clients achieve their building design objectives and sustainability goals.
We assist clients with these goals through personalized relationship management. We ensure that our clients get the care and support they deserve. Our commitment is to uphold customer excellence by introducing innovation in various forms to establishments in the Philippines.
At IEE, we exemplify excellence and innovation in our solutions and services. As the local provider of Mitsubishi Electric technologies, we ensure that these top-tier building solutions are available to make establishments accessible, secure, and modernized.
We also consistently invest in the skills development of our people to ensure exemplary customer service. A well-trained workforce is a sign of sustainable practice. This entails that the staff can conduct efficient problem-solving, leading to more efficient solutions, and thus saving resources where possible. Additionally, training in innovation enables our employees to implement the most current sustainable solutions, improving customer satisfaction and loyalty.
These are IEE's primary focus areas for sustainability. In line with Mitsubishi Electric’s 2050 Environmental Sustainability Vision, we further detail our goals and actions to enhance our solutions and services to achieve our vision for green practices.
Alignment with Mitsubishi Electric’s 2050 Environmental Sustainability Vision
The 2050 Environmental Sustainability Vision is a comprehensive plan guiding the company and our clients toward a sustainable future. This vision includes ambitious long-term goals to reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and promote renewable energy usage.
By setting these targets, Mitsubishi Electric aims to lead the industry in sustainable practices and contribute significantly to global environmental stewardship.
IEE, in turn, aligns our practices with this vision. This includes setting more ambitious sustainability targets, expanding our use of renewable energy, and continuing to enable access to innovative technologies that reduce environmental impact.
Implementing sustainable solutions
The Mitsubishi Electric technologies that we provide encompass various aspects of sustainable building solutions, from energy-efficient air conditioning systems to renewable energy solutions and automation technologies. These key sustainable features include:
Energy-efficient air conditioning systems: These energy-efficient air conditioning systems use the R32 refrigerant. This latest refrigerant technology significantly reduces energy consumption and provides optimal climate control.
Optimized vertical transportation: Mitsubishi Electric’s elevators and escalators feature crowd monitoring and control. This allows efficient crowd management while ensuring comfort and reliability for the client’s occupants.
Smart building management systems: Smart grid and Building Management Systems (BMS) enable efficient energy distribution and usage. These systems optimize energy consumption and enhance the integration of building solutions into building operations. By providing real-time monitoring and control, these technologies ensure energy is used more effectively and sustainably across the infrastructure.
The impact of these technologies on reducing carbon footprint and enhancing energy efficiency is significant. These technologies contribute to environmental sustainability and provide cost savings for building owners and operators.
Employing sustainable practices
As a leading building solutions concierge, IEE is dedicated to promoting sustainability and eco-friendliness in our projects and operations. We employ a multi-faceted approach to sustainability by focusing on promoting sustainable technologies in our projects, engaging with stakeholders to promote sustainable practices, and continuously improving our operations to minimize environmental impact.
We classify our sustainability initiatives into the following categories:
Energy efficiency initiatives
These are our programs for reducing energy consumption. We use advanced technology and optimized operational practices for efficient energy usage. In the office, we employ even the simplest measures, such as turning off the lights and other electronics when not in use.
We also use Mitsubishi Electric’s building automation system for efficient building operation management. The system allows us to monitor, control, and manage our electricity, heating and air-conditioning, and water and sewer functions.
Waste reduction and recycling
These are initiatives focused on minimizing our waste production and enhancing recycling processes across all departments. We also practice plastic waste recycling, where we transfer our plastic waste to a partner waste diverter. They recycle and repurpose plastic waste into outdoor and indoor furniture, corporate giveaways, event booths, and more.
Sustainable product development
IEE ensures that the technologies we provide to establishments meet Mitsubishi Electric’s high standards.
Notably, Mitsubishi Electric makes large research and development investments to build state-of-the-art technologies that improve energy efficiency. This covers improvements in system designs, components, and materials. The company incorporates adaptive features and smart technologies into the products to ensure they are energy-efficient and can adapt to changing situations.
Employee engagement programs
We provide employees with avenues to participate in the company’s sustainability initiatives. We provide activities and training sessions to educate and involve employees in sustainable practices at work and in their personal lives.
In 2024, we held and participated in several eco-friendly events. In February 2024, Mitsubishi Electric Group Companies, including IEE, Laguna Autoparts Manufacturing Corporation (LAMCOR), and MELCO Factory Automation Philippines Inc. (MELAP) conducted a tree-planting program in Rizal, Laguna. A total of 800 seedlings were planted, with the participation of nearly 200 employees. The event was co-organized by the local government of Laguna to showcase a unified commitment to environmental conservation.
IEE also participated in Earth Hour last March 2024. Our commitments, in line with Mitsubishi Electric’s Sustainability Vision, showcase both companies’ commitment to continual technical innovation and renewable energy use, which supports the message of Earth Hour.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), community outreach, and education
IEE also has programs for communities and schools. These initiatives promote sustainability awareness and practices within the local communities and cities where IEE operates.
On June 6, 2024, we opened IEE’s doors to 170 Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng San Pablo students for a company tour. One of the objectives of this tour was to educate students about the elevator, escalator, air conditioning, and building automation industries and the technological advancements that make it thrive. We also showcased the career opportunities available in the industry.
On April 12, 2024, we also conducted an environmental awareness program for the students of Cupang Elementary School as part of our plastic pollution awareness initiative. One of the objectives of this school activity is for the students to reflect on the choices they make as consumers and their impact on the environment. In this program, an art exhibition and seminar were conducted to raise awareness about plastic pollution, and spotlight the importance of sustainable choices. We also donated five sets of garbage cans and 10 computers to help enhance the learning environment and provide valuable resources to the school.
Sustainable, now and beyond
IEE’s dedication to sustainability lies in promoting progress for our Mitsubishi Electric products and people. We align with Mitsubishi Electric’s 2050 Environmental Sustainability Vision to achieve long-term sustainability and contribute to a greener future for the nation. The deployment of advanced technologies, strategic partnerships, and continuous improvement efforts are key components of our approach.
The significance of Mitsubishi Electric and IEE’s contributions to a greener future cannot be overstated. Through our combined efforts, we are making significant strides toward achieving our sustainability vision for 2025 and beyond.
